Many of these nature based myths and legends are stories that are still very popular and alive to today and there is a definite fascination with Celtic artwork and legends. In fact the popularity of their designs have carried over in a huge way into the world of tattoos and tattoo designs. One of the most popular Celtic tattoo designs for women is the Celtic butterfly tattoos.

One of the most famous legends of the Celtic people was the Legend of Etain. This story features love, magic, betrayal and butterflies play a major role. This story is essentially about a king that was a married man. However, he fell in love with this beautiful young princess named Etain. He tried hard to win her affection and his wife the Queen found out what he was doing. She became jealous of the competition and she therefore casted a spell upon Etain and turns her into a butterfly. The queen is then able to simply blow the butterfly (Etain) away. Etain lives her life as a butterfly for years. Then one day she fell in the wine bottle of another queen. The queen drank the wine not knowing that a butterfly was stuck inside of it. Then the Queen gave birth to Etain as a lady and she is then able to marry the High King.

Of course as stated above the Celtic people lived close to nature and therefore they had a nature based religion and system of beliefs. They believed that the butterfly was a symbol for rebirth and transformation. There was also a belief that if a butterfly was accidentally eaten or swallowed they would impregnate a women and be born as a person.

If you want something smaller then a hip, ankle or foot tattoo can also work well with a Celtic butterfly design.

Of course there are the color, size and placement considerations that have to occur. After you have figured these things out or at least have some rough ideas then it is time to find a design to match what you are looking for. There are really two ways to go with the design. You can try to save money and find some flash that would work. Flash is a pre drawn set of tattoos that can be copied onto your body and then tattooed in color. They are typically what is found hanging in tattoo shops. It is the cheapest way to go and the quickest. However, if you can not find what you are looking for this way or want something more unique then you might want to work with a professional tattoo artist to have the design custom drawn. This will cost more money but often it is well worth the extra price.

All About Stamp Collecting

by Joseph Then

When was the last time you did something other than your daily routine? Do you have a hobby? If you don’t have you ever thought of stamp collecting? Well, I guess not. Why? Because you may think that stamp collecting is a very traditional hobby and it is a hobby usually for senior citizens or u may call it old people. I bet you think it is not cool to collect stamps.

You may doubt me now but trust me once you take a closer look, you may be surprised at how enticing it is. For the sake of the amateurs out there, let me tell you how to collect stamps. Trust me, stamp collecting is very easy. With this article as a guide, you’ll be having tonnes of albums in no time.

Obviously, to start a stamp collection, you need to get stamps. The cheapest way to get stamps is by peeling them off from postages and packages. This is a job that can be easily be done by you or even the little ones. See, stamp collecting can be a family hobby too! Another alternative is to get a large packet of stamps from the bookstore. By having a large amount of stamps, it can give you a head start.

First, let me start you off by telling you about the tools you need. You need a place to store the stamp; therefore, I suggest you get an album or an archival stock book. This is important as it keeps you stamps in a very good condition. Make sure that the albums have hinges as you do not want to place your stamps in a fixed position. You may want and need to classify them in future. By gluing them to the album, you may not only spoil the stamps you may not be able to move them in future.

It is also important to store you albums in a safe place. A safe place in this context means a place that is safe from elements that may destroy your collection. An example would be water. Water can destroy your collection. In order to make your collection waterproof, you should keep them in a polythene packet.

You should also make sure that once all your stamps are in an album, it is still no considered safe. This is because there are always natural disasters like flood and fire. The safest possible to keep your album is by keeping them in a polythene packet so that they do not get wetted by water.

Other than having the stamps and a place to store them, you also need to try to appreciate the stamps. Having them in an album is good enough but you may also need magnifying glass to look at the fine details of the stamps. You may also need stamp tongs. This is essential as it prevents you from damaging the stamps by touching them.

Now that you know this, your stamp collection is only a step away. Why don’t you get your family or even your friends to start donating stamps to you? Remember to take a closer look at the stamp!

Best Digital Camera Advice

by Scott Goodman

If you are looking to buy your first digital camera that you may be wondering where to start owing the huge array of new technology about. After spending sizable amount of time at the mall and online research we finally figuring out which is the best digital camera for us. Drawing the money to pay for it out you decide on a top of the range 10 megapixel resolution, 12 times optical zoom compact camera with a two and a half inch LCD screen for excellent viewing of the images afterwards. Unfortunately, technology doesn’t ever stop for breath and your personal choice is no exception, so after months of searching you now have to have the latest version of the camera which has taken over the accolade.

Just when you thought you had it all worked out you have to reassess your needs knowing that you won’t be happy unless you have this new ‘best digital camera’ model instead. The best digital camera is now going to cost you considerably more and being new there aren’t any discounts to be had. Before you rush off and buy your digital camera, there are a few tips I can pass on about buying one. First off try and search out a model with a higher number of pixels, referred to as mega-pixels; you ideally need over 5 although with today’s cameras it would be hard to find one under that anyway.

As digital photo printing costs have reduced over the last few years more and more people are taking advantage of this so the higher the number of pixels you have, the larger you can print your images. Superior color definition and the chance to print off larger than normal images are usually the main reasons for buying a model with high megapixel resolution. The advantage of larger LCD screens on the cameras means you have more control over the composition of the finished image and it is much easier to see the shots you have taken afterwards. The best digital cameras are able to touch up and edit the images this is an excellent feature to have as standard.

A quick tip on this subject involves the batteries which have a tendency to run out quicker if a large LCD screen is fitted and is used constantly; some sound advice is carry spares! More and more digital cameras are coming equipped with an optical zoom and this is the sort to try for even if it is only a three times power. However, the lower price range cameras rarely come with an optical zoom and where fitted, optical zooms range between 3x to 12x power. Images on these cameras are stored on small storage cards that can have a huge memory capacity but be sure to buy the right type.

Although there is quite a range of storage cards available. It normally boils down to one of four types: the newer XD cards from Olympus and Fuji, the SD, card, Sony’s Memory Stick and the old but reliable Compact Flash. Try to obtain the largest memory you can for your camera and your budget. Prices for the large gigabyte cards now are almost the same price as one that was only 64mb only 2 or 3 years ago. After all is said and done, the best digital camera you choose should match your lifestyle as much as it should your pocket. If you enjoy taking shots with your new toy and use it regularly then that is all you can ask from a camera isn’t it?

Why Buy Nikon Monarch Binoculars

by Jonathon Peters

My wife bought me my first pair of Nikon monarch binoculars a couple of months ago, I was in love with them in minutes. I love going birdwatching, and needed a good pair of binoculars as my old ones just didn’t cut it any more. These binoculars feel really nice, they’re very well-balanced and weigh less than 700 g with the strap on. I’ve already managed to drop them a couple of times and they are not damaged yet.

Not long after I got them I took them with me for a Safari to Kenya, Africa. The first time I used them was in the evening - I was standing on a small hill looking into a valley with the sun going down. Without the binoculars I couldn’t see the small villages or the people, however, when I looked through the Monarch’s I could see all the mud houses in the villages and even make out the faces on the people. The optic quality of the Nikon Monarch Binoculars is really good.

My father-in-law, also an avid birdwatcher, thinks these are the best binoculars you can use. He has invited me along on almost all of his trips ever since I got them. The quality of these binoculars is fantastic for the small price you pay. If you want to the top class pair of Nikon binoculars you could easily expect to pay over $2000, but you would be heartbroken if you lost or damaged them. I would not lose any sleep if I lost my new Nikon monarchs as they are affordably replaceable.

You should keep in mind that technology is moving extremely fast, and the 2000 optics now will be down to $500 within a couple of years

I also used my Nikon Monarch Binoculars to view the lunar eclipse last week and had a great view of the moon in shadow. Within our group we had three different pairs of very good quality binoculars to watch the eclipse and the view from my Nikons was by far the best! I had to share them out among everyone for the duration of the eclipse.

One of the good points about buying a pair of Nikon’s are the options that come standard on their binoculars. These include being waterproof and having fog prevention on their lenses, these are great qualities to have in any binoculars. There is also an extended eye relief option for people who will be wearing glasses, or using the binoculars for long periods of time.

I have to finish by saying that I don’t anticipate ever switching to another model of binoculars. These have passed my tests, again and again, with flying colors. Highly recommended

Framing your Photo

by David Peters

Incorporating a frame into your photo can transform a plain picture into an amazing one. Typically a foreground element is used to create the frame. Some frame elements could be a window frame, arches, a door, rows of trees, a fence, an overhanging tree branch and so on

The purpose of a frame is to separate your main subject and produce an appealing composition. A frame is many times a means of adding depth to an image. The appearance of the frame is up to you. You can opt to keep the detail of the frame, as in a wall, branch, or fence, or let the frame go dark, as in a window frame.

Look for objects that can be used as a natural frame in the forefront (and even in the middle or background) when you are composing a shot. Take in all aspects of what is available in the environment of your subject. You might need to change your viewpoint or angle to include your subject into a chosen frame.

Framing can also be done after the fact by combining two or more pictures in an image editing software. Very dramatic effects can be accomplished this way and you are only limited by your imagination.

Be cautious though when doing this. While there is nothing wrong with incorporating certain aspects of different pictures into one, be careful about utilizing artificial frames on familiar landscapes and scenes.

As an extreme example, don’t frame the Washington Monument with the Great Wall of China. Unless your goal is to create dissonance within your viewers’ minds, a picture with an intense difference will only come across as strange.

Next time you find yourself behind the camera lens, take in the whole picture to see if there is an object that you can incorporate as a natural frame. As an experiment, take one picture with the frame and one without. I’m sure you’ll find yourself drawn more to the one with the frame included!
