Pros & Cons of Foods With Vitamin D
This article is about Vitamin D and its importance for our body. It also tells us some excellent foods with Vitamin D.
Pros and Cons of Vitamin D
We eat foods with vitamins to help our bodies to function properly. Taking vitamin and minerals has many benefits for our body, such as the positive effect they have on the body organs and functions. This is all true with that ever-popular well-known Vitamin D. Vitamin D has long been important for the many excellent things it does for our bodies. As important as Vitamin D is for our body and overall health, there are some concerns taking Vitamin D, as well as other vitamins, in excess or not in accordance with the recommended guidelines.
More is not always Better
We’ve all heard the saying, ‘there’s such a thing as too much of a good thing’. Although we don’t always think in terms of vitamins when we hear that phrase, it can certainly apply to vitamins and Vitamin D. Because vitamin D is necessary and good for us, we find it hard to imagine that taking too much of this vitamin can be harmful. However, taking too much of this vitamin can cause serious side effects. Some symptoms of too much Vitamin D, or possible Vitamin D overdose, are loss of appetite, vomiting, nausea, constipation and abdominal pain. Vitamin D overdose can also lead to hypercalcemia, a medical condition where there are abnormally high levels of calcium compounds in our bloodstream. Liver damage is another possibility that could occur from too much Vitamin D. Some people mistakenly believe if they take twice the recommended amount of Vitamin D, that they will get twice the benefits of what they’d get with the normal dosage. This idea is not only incorrect but can be dangerous to your health.
Eat High Quality Vitamin D rich foods
Many foods are rich in Vitamin D, allowing us not to have to take Vitamin D supplements. However, the quality of the Vitamin D foods has a bearing on the benefits we’ll get from them. In many cases, generic foods are as good as name brand foods. It is important to read the labels on the back of the food items to educate yourself on what you’re eating. In the case of fresh fruit and vegetables, it’s important to eat high quality food. Food that is in the “bargain bin” because it’s old may still be edible, but a lot of the vitamins and minerals have been lost. The same is true with the expiration dates on products such as milk. The foods that will last the longest generally are the ones with the highest Vitamin D levels.
Research What Your Needs Are
If you’re uncertain as to what kind of Vitamin D foods you should eat or brands of supplements you should take, do some research. A intuitionist will be able to assist you on this. There are also many informative pages on the web regarding Vitamins and Vitamin D.

The Sonoma Diet, Is It Weird. We DeMystify It. Click Here!
The Sonoma diet is very similar to South Beach Diet. The biggest challenge the most dieters is choosing the right food. The Sonoma diet is much different from other plans because it teaches you to make eating and preparing food a real experience. You were taught, that is, to enjoy not only eating food but choosing it and preparing it as well.
This diet instructs you to appreciate many different kinds of food. You learn to combine food in novel ways which keeps your eating experience from getting too boring. This idea is stolen directly from the Mediterranean diet plan. Here are the do not encourage eating the same boring food day after day. You will have a variety of foods to choose from and learn to enjoy them.
The diet plan is divided into sections which are sometimes called waves. In the first wave your diet is restricted. First wave is about 10 days or are approximately 2 weeks. This is when the body learns to eat food all over again. Here you will perjure body of high-fat, high calorie, and high sugar foods. Your body has to learn this again because we live in a society dominated by fast food and prepackaged meals in order to cut down on cooking. You will lose weight quickly during this wave.
Most of it is water due to the change in diet but some is actual weight loss as well. Dieters learn about the components of food and why certain ones make people gain weight. To maintain the loss, dieters have to move to the next “wave” of the plan.
The second wave comprises the longest phase of the Sonoma diet plan. Participants stay in this wave until they have reached their weight loss goals, much the same as the South Beach diet plan. There are no real restrictions during this phase except of course sticking with no high fat and calorie foods.
Most people grab the largest plate from their cupboards when they sit down for a meal. Then they fill the plate to capacity. This is exactly how we end up overheating in gaining weight. Sonoma diet encourages you to start with a small plate and fill it with food in very specific proportions. What you’ll learn is that you will feel like you have enough food if your plate is full. You trick your mind into believing that even know this plate is smaller because its full of food you will have enough to eat.
The last wave of the Sonoma diet is the maintenance phase. Dieters learn how to keep the weight off and continue to enjoy all of the foods that they grew to love during the other stages of the plan. The Sonoma diet website offers support for their participants as well as dieting tools like menu planners, recipes, and lists of healthy foods to choose from while on the diet.
Exercise is not a central theme of this diet. However, it is very important but the Sonoma diet is founded on the principle of changing food eating habits as a basis for losing weight. My opinion is that you can do both, add an exercise routine and improve your eating habits and you will melt away the pounds faster than you can imagine.

Hippocrates, The Greek Father of Medicine said Do No Harm
Hippocrates, known as the father of medicine coined the phrase now repeated in the Hippocratic Oath: do no harm. The idea just as it was taught by the Greek philosopher and scientist is vital and alive even today.
How closely do you think it’s actually followed in the twenty-first century?
Recently I took my son to a podiatrist after the pediatrician told me that’s who I would have to see and wrote out a referral. He’s 13 and has flat feet that point outwards when he walks.
The day arrived and we were ushered in. I’m sitting across from my boy when the doctor walks in, looks at him for less than a minute, and proceeds to tell me he will have to do a complicated surgery immediately. He won’t be able to walk for a year and will have a steel plate for the rest of his life. Right in front of my son!
Do no harm? Are you kidding me?
Cut into the feet of a healthy child?
I was angry at that man for scaring my son, but I’m not so easily manipulated. My son is now doing daily exercises to correct the real issues.
If this were an isolated case, I wouldn’t be writing this. It’s not. Fear used to sell a $30,000 procedure (the insurance would pay for it, but not the real solution) is not unusual. It was a sales pitch, but how skeptical are we when pitched by a doctor?
The underlying issue is that the medical profession is trained to provide either drug interventions or invasive surgeries.
Sometimes this is essential and will save lives, but how many times are other alternatives simply overlooked?
My search for a better way led to the discovery of an amazing place that actually taught that the body is self-healing and amazing.
What a notion, that our bodies will actually do the work of healing if we just give them the tools and nutrition they need. Oh, and stop working them to death with processed foods.
Named after the father of medicine, the Hippocrates Health Institute truly believes and practices “do no harm” as it teaches people how to create their own healing.
To me, the experience I had at Hippocrates Institute was a taste of heaven. It was so uniquely different.
People call it a miracle when some with cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, various tumors and so many other health conditions bring about their own healing using what they learn.

Alzheimer Myths Fact or Ficton?
When dealing with illnesses, sometimes it can be hard to tell what is true and what is false. When someone you love is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, having accurate and reliable information is critical. With the amount of myths surrounding Alzheimer’s, such as that the disease is all in one’s head or that silver dental fillings can cause the onset of Alzheimer’s, it is essential to clear up four common misconceptions.
A common misconception of some individuals is that Alzheimer’s isn’t a fatal disease, which unfortunately is not true. As Alzheimer’s disease progresses, it builds up plaque in between neurons, which slows and retards their function. In moderate to advanced forms of this disease, a loss of brain cells will occur, leading to memory loss and poor concentration. As time progresses, these symptoms will only grow worse.
A additional myth about Alzheimer’s is that the disease is made up by doctors, and that they don’t really have a problem coping with life. This is untrue, and a delay in treatment can have devastating effects on treatment.
Such people will usually not get help until the symptoms are quite severe, and it begins to negatively affect their friends and family. Other individuals with Alzheimer’s disease will not recognize that they have a problem at all, and intervention from a family member is needed.
Another myth frequently heard is that there are successful treatment options available to cure Alzheimer’s. This myth is untrue, as there currently exists no viable option to fix this disease, other than management of the symptoms. A few drugs can slow down the progression of this illness for half a year, but these pharmaceuticals only treat the symptoms and not the disease.
An additional myth frequently held by many involves silver amalgam fillings. Some individuals believe that dental fillings can cause the onset of Alzheimer’s disease, as they are composed of over fifty percent mercury.
The World Health Organization and the FDA have conducted numerous studies to set to rest any public health concerns regarding mercury amalgams, and the National Institute of Health, as well as the New England Journal of Medicine, have backed up these findings.
Even though a cure for Alzheimer’s has not been found as of yet, it is essential to stay current and educated with regards to information about this illness. With these four myths debunked, it is essential to do proper research in order to better treat and manage this disease.

Don’t Expect to Stay With Your Current Weight Loss Plan
A lot of people are just like you. They are overweight and simply tired of trying exercise and diet programs that ultimately never work. Everything starts out alright, but after a while it just gets too hard. Then you feel guilty that you have failed once again.
Does the above description sound like you? Are you angry and frustrated about why your diet programs are not working? Just like you, many others feel the same way. There are countless reasons explaining why diets fail and this article will cover the most important.
Maybe your program failed you simply because it wasn’t a good program. When you go on a radical diet, you are sure to fizzle out at some point because it’s just too off the wall to sustain. Eating nothing but cantaloupe, or doing some bizarre exercise routine for two hours a day, just isn’t possible long-term. You’ve got to choose an exercise and diet program you can stick with for your entire life if you want to keep weight off for good.
A lack of support from family and friends causes many to quit their diets. Maybe your family and friends didn’t provide the support you needed in order to say no to that bite of rich dessert. It could be possible that your friends had no faith in you or your diet. A fact of life is the fact that support is critical when focusing on weight loss. Try joining a weight loss group with others that are in the same situation, or consider hiring a personal trainer that will keep you motivated towards your goals.
A third reason could be that you were dieting without exercise, or exercising without eating right. You didn’t see results, and so you quit. The two need to go hand in hand for a sensible workout program that is actually going to help you drop pounds. Any plan you choose must include both diet and exercise.
Another reason was that you expected results far too quickly. Diets take time to work, and your body may take even more time to adjust to your new diet before weight loss is noticed. Your body is resistant and will require you to use diet and exercise to steer it to shed pounds. Stick to a well designed program, and the results you want will be achieved.
Finally, you may not have achieved weight loss because of a lack of commitment. You have to start your plan without any doubts. You must be fully committed. Otherwise, you’ll find ways to cheat your diet and cheat yourself. The moment you think your diet is failing you off you go. Failure is not an option; stick to your guns and finish the fight! Forgive yourself for any past attempts that did not work out. Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
Ironically, the secret to weight loss is not actually a secret to anyone. We have always know what it is: a healthy diet and exercise are what will help us lose weight. There is no miracle way to get that perfect body. There is absolutely no “instant fat loss” cure. Pick a healthy workout that you enjoy and will maintain. Keep realistic goals and your diet will have you thin in no time.

Daily Stress Relief with a Shiatsu Massage Chair Recliner
You can find many different massage therapies at a day spa to relieve your tensions and anxieties. Maybe we can make it to a day spa at least once a week or for the more fortunate, a few times a week. These occasional visits to the local day spa provides effective relief of built up stress. The build up of stress is ongoing and does not wait for us to go to the spa. Since most of us cannot make it daily to the day spa, our stress may be relieved when leaving the spa, but the anxiety and stress starts building the next day. A shiatsu massage chair recliner can provide daily stress relief in the comfort of home.
Massage is being shown in many new studies to help reduce instances of anxiousness and feelings of stress. Therapeutic massage helps people feel more relaxed as well as alert. A massage for stress relief aids in relaxation because it contributes to peace of mind and to an emotional feeling of well-being. A shiatsu massage chair helps to relieve aching and tired muscles helping one to relax.
An effective shiatsu massage clears the mind of stress and improves the ability to respond mentally. Relieving the mind of stress allows it to be relaxed, calm and more creative. Music therapy is important for inducing relaxation, by calming and quieting the mind. The removal of pertubations of the mind during massage induces whole body relaxation. The best massage chair manufacturers include MP3 players and synchronize the massage to the music. These shiatsu massage recliners are very comfortable and provide for a very relaxing experience.
Shiatsu massage recliners are designed to cover the entire back, the hips, thighs and buttocks, and also the calves and feet. Full body massages have been studied by researches and doctors documenting the positive impact of massage in reducing stress. As stress is reduced, patients have decreased blood pressure, heal faster, and have deeper sleep. A massage chair can provide these therapies postively impacting anxiety and stress build up and tension.
Massage therapy can help reduce depression. If the body is stressed and it cannot relax, then this can lead to anxiety which may start thoughts of negativity. Using a shiatsu massage chair daily can decrease anxiety and reduce tension which increases the body’s energy and wellness. Increases in energy and wellness helps to increase one’s self image by removing images of negative self-worth. Reverse the cycle with the help of a shiatsu massage chair.
Compliment your trips to the day spa with a shiatsu massage chair of your own. Enjoy daily relief in the pleasant surroundings of home. Take the stress out of your day and start each day fresh. Day spas have great treatments like wraps and peels. One day, these may be available in the massage chairs of the future. But presently massage chairs can only provide full body massages reducing your stress and anxiety. Shiatsu massage chairs can work wonders on your mental and physical well-being by reducing stress on a daily basis and not letting it build up.

Why You Should Tone While Losing Weight
These days it seems like just about everyone is trying to lose weight, and there seems to be a diet or product out there for each individual. Many of these various products and diets claim they will teach you the weight loss secret that we are all dying to know. Some of the diets and products are successful, and some are not.
In most cases you really don’t need to purchase any huge, so-called weight loss secret in order to lose weight. They key is really just to watch what you eat. It takes 3,500 calories to gain a pound of weight. You therefore need to reduce the number of calories you eat by 3500 in order to lose a pound of weight. Reduce your intake by 500 calories a day and you will lose a pound in a week. This is simple in theory, but not always so simple in practice.
However, many people have lost a great deal of weight by practicing just such a plan. Some people reduce their calorie intake a bit more aggressively to lose the weight even quicker. Other people reduce their calorie intake a bit less to lose just a couple of pounds a month. And even others add an exercise program to their diet to lose weight even quicker. Any way you cut it - the 3,500 calories that is, will count towards your ultimately weight loss and you will reach your goal.
In truth some people may have dropped a couple pounds without notice. This is discouraging because your body still looks the same to them. You may have less body fat, but because your body is not toned, the results are not noticeable. You can button your collar with comfort but that too is not noticed.
This is the reason toning your muscles while you lose weight it crucial. If you don’t exercise already then you should begin slowly. The right combination of diet and exercise will yield results. How can it not I ask you? Your flabby body can be cured with exercise and a healthy diet.
One way to start toning your muscles is to walk - just walk. Noting complicated or tricky - one foot in front of the other. Start by walking about thirty minutes three days a week. Then, as you begin to gain endurance, increase the distance or time. Walking will tone your muscles and help you lose even more weight.
Using light weights is a valuable option to work your arms. Leg exercises, such as squats or lunges can tone your butt, thighs and legs. Crunches can tone your abdominal muscles. As for any new exercise program don’t forget to start slowly doing about ten repetitions of each.
It’s important to know your schedule when you are toning your muscles. Alternate days for certain muscle groups. For example, do abdominal and arm exercises one day, then rotating to leg and buttocks the next. This allows for rest and repair which further builds muscle.

Herbal Medicine History
Herbal medicine history literally goes back to the beginning of civilization. and although it is really impossible to know exactly when herbal medicine history first began, archaeological remains from early civilizations have revealed that plants were used in burials as well as in various other types of rituals.
Modern medicine only started around 300 years ago, from around the end of the industrial revolution, prior to that Herbal medicine was the only form of medicine known to man., and it was considered as being an integral part of the overall development of civilization. Herbs have been used by all cultures throughout history, and much of the medicinal use of plants seems to have been developed through observations of wild animals and as well by trial and error.
How To describe Herbal Medicine?
There are many different types of natural medicine that use herbs as a part of their practice, and herbal medicine is considered as being a type of approach that uses plant or plant-derived preparations in order to treat, prevent or cure various different health conditions and ailments.
Today, herbal medicine is considered as being a complementary type of therapy, one which uses plants or plant extracts in order to treat illness. There are also many well-established medicines that come from plants, for instance morphine, which comes from poppies, aspirin and willow bark and which is used quite commonly in the modern day.
Before you take any herbal medicine yourself, you should be aware of the herbal medicine history and as well you should make a consultation to see an herbalist. This first consultation will typically take around an hour to complete, and during this time they will ask you various questions about your health, including your medical and family history, lifestyle and emotional state.
The Importance of Herbal Medicine History
There is great importance behind herbal medicine history, namely that by understanding the history you will be able to make better use of the various different herbs that are available at your disposal. Herbs offer a variety of benefits that you can use to add to your life, and so you should definitely incorporate them as much as possible.
By understanding about the history of herbs you will be able to put them to the best use possible, and with the advent of more modern methods of medicine, people have fallen away from their uses in food, shelter and medicine, which is incredibly unfortunate, as herbs and other plants still contain the vitamins, essential oils, mucilage, and other natural ingredients that are so beneficial to the mind, body and spirit of man.

Home Remedies for “Fixing” Your Bronchitis
If you are looking for home remedies that you can use to treat bronchitis there are many options available. There are home remedies that are based on eating certain types of foods and taking certain types of mixed recipes. There are others that are based on what you should be doing and what you shouldn’t be doing. Regardless of which remedy you try, you want to see what works best for you while at the same time trusting your own judgment not to do anything that will harm your long term health in the process.
One of the best home remedies that you can implement is to simply change your diet. Too many of us have bad eating habits to begin with. If we would modify our diets to fall more in line with what we should be doing to build good health practices we will be able avoid many illnesses and more effectively treat illnesses that we have. With bronchitis, you should drink lots of water as water helps power the immune system. It also prevents dehydration, which has a greater possibility when fighting bronchitis then under normal circumstances.
There’s an old saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” and this saying certainly holds true for bronchitis. Fruits power your body with additional water to help fight dehydration as well as provide additional vitamins and minerals to contribute to the immune system. You want to consume lots of juicy based fruits including grapes, oranges, strawberries, pineapples and of course the famous apple.
As far as techniques to battle bronchitis one technique that you should consider is taking a hot bath in baking soda. You want to run the bath water as hot as you can physically take without burning your body in the process. After filling the tub up with water, add the baking soda to the mix. Soak in the water and baking soda for a minimum of 15-20 minutes. What this does is relaxes the muscles so that the body can do a better job at attaching whatever is causing the bronchitis in the body. This also provides breathing relief as breathing in the hot fumes is good for unclogging the nasal passages.
As far as what you can take to help cure bronchitis, there are many different formulas that are available to you. One formula is to use ginger in as many different things as possible. A great thing to mix ginger with is your tea as it clears up your nasal passages. Ginger also eliminates fever, which can occur if you have bronchitis that is a result of a virus invasion.
A second formula that you should consider is consuming raw onions. Onions play the role of breaking down the phlegm build up that comes as a result of bronchitis. If you are a salad fan make sure you add lots of raw onions to your salad. You can also put raw onions in your soup, your sandwiches or even put them in a blender and make onion juice.
If you live in an environment with lots of fresh air and a low pollen count, it is a very good idea to get outside as much as possible. While you certainly don’t want to be running marathons (bronchitis patients should be getting plenty of rest), there certainly isn’t anything wrong with taking a nice brisk walk outdoors. The fresh air will do your lungs well and serves as an effective home remedy against bronchitis.
